Get ready for a grit-themed endurance challenge on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Eisenhower Park (19399 NW Military Hwy, San Antonio), where the Texas Tough Relays Half Marathon & 5K brings relays, individual runs, and competitive camaraderie to the fore.
Organized by local race series Texas Tough, this event features an authentic half marathon, a fast challenging 5K, and a 3‑person relay option covering the full half‑marathon distance in legs of ~3 mi, 5.1 mi, and 5 mi. There’s also a virtual half marathon for distance runners joining remotely.
Race Day & Experience
The half marathon field begins at 7:30 AM CDT, with a rolling cutoff by 10:30 AM. The 5K starts at 7:45 AM, ending by 8:00 AM. Relay exchanges occur at predetermined points—along scenic, hilly trails around the park—adding strategy to the mix. Every finisher receives a racing singlet, and the first 100 registrants enjoy special gifts from EDragon Productions. Finishers also claim a unique medal and post-race meal.
What Sets It Apart
The challenging local terrain makes the course a test of strength rather than speed—hilly and robust, just like its name suggests. Relay participants compete in age-group categories (open male/female, masters, coed/mixed), and solo athletes vie for awards too. With modest field sizes and a relay format, the event fosters teamwork, accountability, and endurance-based fun.
