Mark your calendars for the Skunk Ape Sunset Half-Marathon on September 14th, 2024, promising a trail running experience like no other. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Green Swamp – West Tract, the race kicks off at 7:30 pm, offering a unique nighttime adventure through old forest roads and the renowned Florida Trail.
Race Highlights:
– Inclusive for All Paces: With no cut-off time, the race emphasizes inclusivity, encouraging every participant to cross the finish line.
– Awards and Finisher Prizes: The top four overall male and female winners will be honored. Finishers can choose from a selection of glassware—pint glasses, whiskey glasses, orange juice glasses, mugs, or cups. Stickers are also up for grabs.
– Potluck Celebration: For a modest $20, participants join a post-race potluck party. From fresh fruit dishes to hearty casseroles, runners share their favorite post-race treats, fostering a sense of community.
– Aid Stations: Located at the Turn Around Point at the McNeil Trailhead, aid stations are stocked with an array of refreshments, from soda and pickles to gummy bears, chips, and cookies.
– Community Coolers: Runners are invited to bring their preferred beverages to share in “community coolers,” adding to the festive atmosphere.
