Set against the sweeping backdrop of Big Sky Country and the Little Belt Mountains, the JB Fit Club Bull Run & Bike Half Marathon returns in conjunction with the C.M. Russell Stampede festivities in Stanford, MT. This unique event blends a dramatic gravel half-marathon route (also offering a bike-a-half option and two-person relay teams) with western heritage and community celebration.
The course begins atop a remote mountain road at 6:30 AM MDT, descending gradually through scenic ranches, rolling hills, and “Russell Country,” named after renowned western artist Charles M. Russell. Around mile 9, the route transitions onto maintained gravel roads and concludes downstream at City Park in Stanford—crossing open prairies and expansive Montana vistas.
Support includes well-marked aid stations, post-race hydration and snacks, plus locker-room access and campsite options adjacent to the finish line. A 5K and 1-mile fun run also begin later (at 9 AM and 10 AM), making this festival-inclusive event especially family-friendly.
Completing the Bull Run & Bike (a.k.a. Dry Wolf/Big Bad Wolf) earns entrants part of the Wolf Run Trifecta Series, unlocking swag like T-shirts, medals, and bragging rights as mountain-country endurance champions. With entry fees around $95 (half setup) and course support included, it showcases central Montana’s wild beauty and communal spirit—ideal for trail lovers, gravel runners, and folks chasing a uniquely scenic PR.
