The Baby Shippey, held on Sunday, June 1, 2025, offers both a trail half marathon (13.05 mi) and intense 10 K, each designed to test grit on wild, technical terrain. Named in honor of the legendary Shippey endurance courses, this shorter “baby” event packs serious challenge into a compact format.
Runners begin at 8:00 AM (10 K starts at 9:00 AM) following packet pickup at the Cub World Building beginning at 6:45 AM. The half course climbs roughly 2,390 ft, mixing rugged rock traverses, steep jeep roads, loose switchbacks, and dual powerline descents—each section designed to push both quads and lungs.. Despite a high pace on jeep roads, you’ll battle steep ascents and technical descents that earned it the nickname “B.S. Half” for causing many runners to utter, “This is B.S.”.
Expect two aid stations—at miles 3 and 8.2—with a cutoff of 10:30 AM for the 8.2 mi point, and a 12:00 PM overall cutoff. The 10 K shares the initial rugged miles before rejoining the half, demanding over 1,100 ft of elevation gain in just 6 miles.
Post-race, all finishers are invited back to the Cub World Building for food, ice cream/popsicles, and camaraderie from 10:00 AM to noon —a true community gathering, not just a race finish.
