Overview

Wrap up your year with trails, treats, and community vibes at Brazen Racing’s Almost New Year’s Eve event at scenic Lake Chabot Regional Park. Held annually—this year on December 28, 2024—the race offers 5K, 10K, and half marathon distances and doubles as the first leg of Brazen’s celebrated New Year’s double-series.

The routes wind through a mix of paved and compacted dirt trails, staying true to Lake Chabot’s rugged charm and offering rolling hills that challenge without overwhelming. Expect approximately 30% pavement on the half, with the rest undulating through wooded single-track and wide park paths. Aid stations brimming with water, electrolyte drink, gels, plus volunteer support at regular intervals ensure hydration and encouragement along the way.

What makes this race stand out is the festive finishing experience and series bonus. Finishers earn a connector “Mega-Medal” when paired with the New Year’s Day run—and yes, “It took me two years to finish that marathon” (a favorite brag for doubling up). RaceRaves attendees praise the organization:

“Aid stations are well stocked. The volunteers bring the Brazen spirit.”
“Amazing food at the finish line… It’s It ice cream!”

This boutique event attracts trail lovers, holiday runners, families, and serious athletes—especially those chasing back‑to‑back fun and medals in late December. With a friendly cutoff, chip timing, and gorgeous sunset-to-party vibes, it’s an unforgettable way to cross the year’s finish line.
