Brace yourself for a nocturnal adventure on Saturday, December 20, 2025 as the Longest Night Trail & Ultra Run unfolds at Lakewood Nature Preserve, just outside Greenville. All races—including the half marathon—kick off at 6:00 PM EST, under moonlit skies and starry trails.
Unlike typical races, this ultra-style event challenges you to complete a 1.5‑mile grassy loop, repeatedly, with a 25‑minute limit per lap. Half marathoners run 9 laps, pacing both distance and night magic. Finish in 10 minutes? Enjoy an extra 15 hunting glow moments by the fire between laps.
The course weaves through rolling grasslands and forested sections on the 120‑acre preserve, home to abundant wildlife (deer, turtles, woodpeckers, and more). Camping—or cozying up inside the event barn—is available for runners and supporters. The cadence of cold air, live music, and lantern-lit camaraderie gives Longest Night its signature blend of endurance and enchantment.
Registration begins at $50 (plus fees), rising to $65 after October 1, with discounted rates for juniors (≤17 get only $15). All events are cupless, so bring your own hydration vessel. Aid stations at loop’s start/finish offer hot broth, pickles, cookies, Coke, ginger ale, and cold snacks.
Finish strong at sunrise and walk away with a finisher medal, a custom race tattoo, race sticker, collapsible cup, and memories of running through darkness to dawn. Ideal for seasoned ultrarunners or night-run novices ready to chase moons and miles.
