Overview

Lace up this new autumn classic—Run the Platte, returning on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the MOPAC Trailhead in scenic Springfield, NE. Now in its second year as part of the MoPac Rail‑Trail series, this event includes a USATF-certified Half Marathon (8 AM), plus 10K and 5K options (8:15 AM) on a mix of crushed limestone trail and Cass County dirt roads.

Runners will enjoy a peaceful out‑and‑back course along the Platte River—crossing the historic pedestrian bridge before heading into rural backroads, flanked by open skies and parkland woods. Aid stations—water, Gatorade, snacks, even band‑aid stations—appear every two miles, welcoming both competitive racers and relaxed fun‑runners. A generous 4‑hour cutoff ensures a comfortable pace for everyone, and participants earn a long‑sleeve tech shirt and custom medal at the finish.

What truly sets Run the Platte apart is its blend of rustic riverside beauty, small‑town charm, and fall race atmosphere. With early‑season pricing between $59–79 (+fee), a controlled field (roughly 200–300 entries expected), and proceeds benefiting Team Red, White & Blue, this event offers both purpose and ambiance.

Whether you’re seeking a late‑year PR or just a scenic autumn workout, Run the Platte rewards with quiet trails, flowing river views, and a relaxed community welcome. Want course maps, parking advice, or places to stay nearby? I’ve got you covered!
