Unless you’re a native of the high country of southwestern Wyoming — and well-accustomed to the high altitudes here — this is likely to be one of the most challenging road race events you’ll ever run, as it takes runners on an out-and-back route that runs high into the mountains overlooking this small city in Wyoming’s southwestern corner.
The elevation for the marathon starting line is about 6,100 feet above sea level and the course reaches is highest altitude at about 7,500 feet. All three races start together in Green River’s Island Park, making this event very much a challenge for runners of all abilities.
